Can instructor create different threads within a discussion forum?
In Blackboard you would have option to create different threads within 1 discussion, then students can reply to the Thread they want .
For example: Discussion Week 1 has
- Introduce yourselves thread
- Q&A
- .....

@qnguyen ,
The Canvas Discussion tool sees one topic as one "thread." Therefore, you would create:
Discussion week 1 - Introduce yourself
Discussion week 1 - Q & A
Discussion week 1 - etc.
These would each be stand alone discussion topics.

What Robbie said... Bb has a 3 tiered discussion system (Forum, Discussion, Response) where Canvas only has 2 tiers (Discussion, Response). It is an adjustment when you move over, but it works just as well. (But make sure allow threaded replies is enabled or it is a mess) ![]()
