[ARCHIVED] Can you bulk add response options for a multiple choice/dropdown question?

I am looking to gather demographic information about people who are taking our course and I would like to include a dropdown list of all of the school districts within our state as one of the questions.  I do not see a way to bulk add responses to a multiple choice (or multiple dropdown) question.  Is this an option anywhere in Canvas?  Also, if there is a bulk question response upload option, is there a limit to how many options that can be included on a single question?

Hi Chris,

If you have sufficient admin rights in your instance to access the SIS Imports area of the admin console, I believe it is possible to add answers to a question via the quiz questions API.  Check out additional documentation here.

Thank you Scott for your feedback.  Currently I am not an admin, nor on a paid instance of Canvas.  Are there any built in ways to add in 200 response options for a single dropdown without typing them in manually?

Hi Chris,

I am familiar with a text file upload via the front end capability is other older LMS platforms I used previous to Canvas.  Unfortunately I don't know of any way to add questions or answers to quizzes in Canvas that do not involve API access or manually adding them via the web interface.
