Hi! I know this was posted awhile ago but I am just getting around to utilizing the community more. At my institution, I work as an online student support specialist, which really is a catch-all for supporting online students AND on-campus students with Canvas questions. I moderate a virtual community within Canvas that every student (online and on-campus) is enrolled in. It appears in their Dashboard and I have all school events on the course calendar. We are working to make every on-campus event accessible to online students via live streaming or Zoom, and then we upload recordings of the events onto the page. Right now, we have several modules accessible to students that are themed by student need. The modules are:
Orientation
Frequently Requested resources (library, programmatic information, etc)
Our institutions Common Read
Recorded lectures and events
We also post discussions about twice a month, along with announcements about various programs and events. Students are separated into sections by which programs/majors they're in and we are able to target various announcements and discussions that way as well. I hope this is helpful!
