When creating a conference is there a way to have groups within a course for example 6th grade students, 7th grade students, etc or a conference for a specific block of students instead of having to individually select what students you want to invite to a conference?

There's not a way to specify groups for your conference from your course conference page. However, you can create conferences within groups from a group page. If you check out How do I view content and student activity within a group as an instructor?, you'll see how to visit a group page. From there, you can follow the instructions found in https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-10522-4212119517?sr=search&searchId=4190902b-bd66-4af0-97c3... to create a group-specific conference.
