Is there a way I can hide my students so that students/parents cannot see who else is in my class?

While observers cannot see the student list, there is a way to hide the rest of the participant list from the other students.

If you follow this lesson (How do I manage Course Navigation links?), move people to the bottom, meaning it's disabled. This will completely remove the student list from view! Students will not be able to select their own groups, but you can always do that for them.
