[ARCHIVED] Deleted Discussion Posts

As an instructor, I have accidently deleted student discussion posts many times in the past. Several of my students have done the same.

There is no warning/confirm messsage and there is no way to recover a deleted discussion post in the event one is accidently removed. The Canvas support desk cannot recover them either; they can only recover entire discussion topics, not individual postings.

I would like to see both a warning message with a confirm delete message and a recovery option for either (or both) Students and Instructors.

smhickey‌, from your post it sounds like you are looking for this area of the Community - Canvas Feature Ideas. This is the space where you can check to see if someone else has already requested a feature and if not, you can submit a feature request.

This seems to becoming more common as we are finding students are claiming they have posted something and they really haven't or didn't do it correctly.

The posts would still exist in the data tables if you were able to query those and of course if the message was correctly posted in the first place.
