[ARCHIVED] Do I need to create a new course on Canvas Dashboard?

Last school year, I manually created a course. I do not teach a class, I am a 6th grade ESE Support Teacher. I created a Resource Room Course and basically developed announcements/reminders for my students.I currently went to view my dashboard and my course still appears with my caseload of students. Do I need to create a new course for the upcoming school year 20/21. What do I do with the old course, so my new incoming 6th graders do not get confused from old announcements.Thanks so much for your assistance.

You want to create a new course if you have new students coming in. The new students won't see the old course unless they're enrolled in it, which you do not want to do. You can go into the old course settings and set the dates so the course is over (be sure to check the boxes limiting the access to the course so people don't go in and get confused).

You can copy content from the old course to the new course so that you do not have to recreate everything from scratch.
