[ARCHIVED] Download all Files in a File Upload Quiz not Available

Howdy folks,

So I have an exam that is given as follows:

1.  There is a question bank with two different versions of a test.  Each question in the question bank is a File Upload type question.

2.  Students go in, take the exam, submit their work through the File Upload question.

I've used File Upload questions plenty of times, and the option to Download All Submissions is available (on the front page of the quiz as well as under Grades) but in this case, it's not present for either.

The submissions are available in Speedgrader, but only singly.

Any help out there?

We are having the same experience. A student just took an exam last week and we cannot see the "Download all files" option in Quizzes. I'm going to start a Canvas Chat to see if they can help and I will update this page if there is helpful information to share!

So it turned out that my faculty member didn't set up the question as a File Upload one. At the last minute, they changed it to an "Essay" question so Canvas can't recognize those are files.

Unfortunately no. It may have just been some kind of coding error that only happened once.

I am also having this issue. My interface does not look like the canvas help page interface. I have no option to download all files. When I click on the quiz, its already in edit mode. Not in a summary like mode as shown in the help file.

Hello,

I had the similar issue with my instructor and upon checking with Canvas Support team, I was told that the Download All Files feature link only becomes available if there is at least one file upload question in the quiz that is not part of a question bank/group. The same is mentioned in Canvas Guide.

For quizzes with question banks/groups that have File Upload questions in it, files must be downloaded manually per each student as the Download All Files feature is not available.

As per the Canvas Support Team, this is a limitation of classic quizzes where file upload questions that were part of question bank would not show the link to download all files on quizzes.

As a workaround, I suggested my faculty to build quizzes using Question Groups and at least one File Upload Question outside of the Question Group. However, we have not yet tested this scenario. Not sure if Canvas would download all files from all questions or just the files for the File Upload question that's outside of Question Group.
