By default, both quizzes and assignments appear in the Assignments navigation tab. There is another tab called Quizzes in which only quizzes appear. This is confusing for my new users. How can I remove the quizzes from the Assignments tab? I tried creating another Assignment Group for the quizzes, but that group just appears at the bottom of the Assignments tab anyway.
Hello mas...
Thanks for posting your question. I'm not sure if you would be open to this idea, but many folks who teach in Canvas choose to hide both the "Assignments" and the "Quizzes" course menu items and only send their students to the "Modules" screen. The "Modules" screen is really the place where you can build out all the content that you've created in your course...such as Pages, Quizzes, Assignments, Discussions, etc. The "Modules" screen is the place to organize all of your content...by modules...so that your students can follow an ordered path to complete things in the order you want for the course. So, if you are open to this, you can hide both of these buttons by following the information in this Guide: How do I manage Course Navigation links?
If you weren't open to this, then you could make your quiz a "Practice Quiz" or an "Ungraded Survey", but then those items wouldn't be gradable in your Gradebook...so that might not be something that you'd want.
I'll throw in this wrench...I'm not sure if your school has made the transition over to New Quizzes (formerly Quizzes.Next), but all of those New Quizzes are currently seen only in the "Assignments" index page...not in the "Quizzes" screen.
Finally, and I know that this isn't at all related to the question you asked...but I noticed that you only have your initials displayed as your profile name here in the Community. The Canvas Community managers ask that you provide your full first and last name in your Community profile so that we know who you are. Please see the section on "Be you" in this Guide: How do I manage Course Navigation links?
I hope this information will be of help to you, M S. Sing out if you have any questions about this...thanks!
