I've wanted this feature for a long time, but I have found a roundabout way to do it.
To search the text of announcements in Canvas (not just the titles) as an instructor:
- Open your course in student view (this does not work in instructor mode)
- Go to the announcements page
- In your browser, Select All (Control-A Windows, Command-A Mac) and copy (Control-C Windows, Command-C Mac)
- Open a text editor (preferably one without style support (I use TextWrangler on Mac), or if you know how to, paste into Word or other document program without style information to make readability better))
- Paste the text from the browser into the text editor (Control-V Windows, Command-V Mac)
The editor should now have all the titles and text of your announcements that were on that page. When you do a search within your text editor, you'll find the text and you just have to look above it to see what the title of the announcement is. If you have multiple pages of announcements, you'll have to do this for each page. I don't know of a way of increasing the number of announcements shown on each page.
It's not pretty, but it works.
Cheers,
Todd
