[ARCHIVED] How can students unsubmit an assignment using a Google Doc?

I have a Google Doc I use for students to submit journal entries every day of the quarter.  It is due at the end of the quarter and it is a quiz grade.  A student accidentally submitted it on the first day of school through the assignment on Canvas.  I do not see any way to unsubmit this on his end or to even return it to him on my end.  I'd even be fine resetting the assignment for him (but can't do it for everyone because they all now have journal entries on their unsubmitted docs).  This was so easy on Google Classroom and I am becoming super frustrated.  Does anyone have a solution?

Did you ever find a solution to this problem? I'm having the same issue.
