Good morning, @holiddi ...
Here are the steps that I would take:
- Upload your button image to your course "Files" area in Canvas. How do I upload a file to a course? - Canvas Community
- Navigate to the page where you will be inserting your button image.
- Add the image you uploaded in Step #1 to your page. How do I embed images from Canvas into the Rich Co... - Canvas Community
- Once the image has been added to your page, click on the image to highlight it.
- Press Ctrl+K on your keyboard. A small dialog box should open where you can see detail to create a hyperlink.
- Add the link from your Google Docs document to this dialog box.
- Save any changes to your page.
There is another option, too. If your school has configured the Google Apps LTI External Tool to integrate with Canvas, then you could connect your Google account with Canvas and then display the link to your Google document in a Canvas page. You'd need to find out from your school's local Canvas administrator or someone from your school's Online Learning/eLearning department to see if the Google Apps LTI has been configured or not, though. Here is a Guide on how to link to a Google Docs document: How do I create a hyperlink or embed a file from G... - Canvas Community.
I hope these resources will be of help to you. Sing out if you have any other question...thanks! Take care, stay safe, and be well.
