How do I include observers in a "quiz" (that is really a survey)?  Currently, Canvas is only allowing registered students to take the survey.

 @rbowen1 , as detailed in https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-14069-67952724279 , users in the Observer role can participate in course activities to a very limited extent; they can only view assignments and quizzes (and that includes surveys), but cannot submit them.

Perhaps others with significant experience using parent/observers in their courses can suggest an alternative.

One quick alternative would be to link or embed a Google Form. Only people with access to your course would be able to get to the form, and you could also collect email addresses (or names at least) to know who-contributed-what.
