In the old grade book format I could hit "mute assignment" and enter grades as I graded then release them once they were all done (I have approximately 200 students). It is only fair to release all grades at once but sometimes it takes days to read through their assignments. Help!

Hello @koonshj Welcome to the Canvas Community!
On January 18, 2020, Canvas deprecated the legacy gradebook in favor of the new Gradebook. Mute/Unmute is not a feature in the New Gradebook, and have been replaced with a Grade Posting Policy feature. It is much more flexible and provides for many options that teachers have asked for for years; however, it is also more complicated.
Anyways, you can learn more at
- How do I use posting policies in a course?
- How do I select a grade posting policy for a course in the Gradebook?
- How do I select a grade posting policy for an assignment in the Gradebook?
There is lots more you should check out in the Gradebook chapter of the Canvas Instructor Guide.
I hope this helps,
Kelley
