Sometimes users just want to edit the video they recorded earlier, not start a new recording. A link or button showing in both the Canvas integration and Arc site (".instructuremedia.com/collections/user") dashboard that gets the user to the Screen Recorder's editing dashboard would be great! Currently, it seems the user has to start the screen recorder, record a second of video, pause/stop recording, click "done", and then click "back to recordings" to get all of the way back to editing video.
@JACOBSEN_C ...
This is interesting. ( @kona , did you know about this?) Strangely, though, even though I had made a couple screen recordings in Arc and spent time adding some enhancements to it before finalizing, those videos are not showing up in my "Manage Recordings" screen. It seems that the folder it's looking in is a folder on my C: drive.
Yeah, it looks like recordings are saved and edited on/from a users computer & the recorder app before uploaded into Arc, which is 'ok' - but the ability to go straight to the editor would be great. Later, moving it all up to the cloud, including editing (a-la wevideo) would be very-great!
I noticed it there for the first time last week. Unfortunately it’s not easy to get there and only the videos created on that machine seem to show up. 😞
I love the new Arc editing tool, but I agree, it would be great to find a way to access previous recordings other than by making a dummy recording.
Also, once uploaded, they are removed from the manage recordings folder in Arc, and from your hard drive. If you want to make any further edits, you need to download them again.
I have also tried pinning the launcher to my taskbar (PC), but it will not launch from anywhere except from inside Arc.
This is a serious problem with Arc, I've talked with canvas support about it, they said that they know about it and that they can address it only if the problem gains traction within the support community. I started the following thread to address this issue:
Arc forces user to create dummy videos to re-access "return to recordings"
