In one of my courses, I have the role of both the teacher and a student. I would like to remove myself as a student. The reason why is that my dashboard keeps showing that I need to complete work as a student. I have had to excuse myself but that is not efficient. Can I remove myself as a student in the course? If so, how? Thank you!

@AllisonShirk ...
If you select the "Edit Sections" option instead, are you able to remove yourself as a student there? For example, you might see something like this (screenshot from my own sandbox course):
Are you able to click on the "X" next to the one with the "Student" label in your own course? That would remove you as a student and only have you enrolled as the teacher.
Hope this helps!
Hi @AllisonShirk -
There is a chance you'll be able to remove yourself, If you don't see the option to Manage Users, it's likely that you'll need to ask your Canvas Support team at your institution. Different schools have different permissions granted to specific roles.
I should have mentioned, I am using a free for teacher account, so there is no institution involved.

From the People Page, you can try to edit your role. This article will walk you through the process: How do I edit user roles in a course?
I hope that works for you! 🙂

Hi @AllisonShirk ...
I think you're going to need to get your school's local Canvas administrator or someone from your school's Online Learning / eLearning / Distance Learning department involved. They should be able to fix this issue for you since it does not appear you are able to get thing resolved on your own...based on the screenshots you've shared. Or, if none of those options are available, you might need to reach out to the Canvas Help Desk staff.

Please keep us posted on your progress...thanks!
