Hello,  @maldonadowendy7  Welcome to the Canvas Community! The most likely cause of this is that the browser you're using to access Canvas is out of date and no longer supported. Since you mention that you're using a Mac, and on the assumption that you are accessing Canvas through Safari, when you update the MacOS, Safari will be updated along with it. 

Supported browser versions are listed in Which browsers does Canvas support?‌ Compare the version of the browser you're using (ideally Chrome or Firefox) with the ones listed in the lesson, and if yours is older, update as needed.
