If I submit my answer before it is automatically saved, will my answer be saved?

I assume you are talking about quizzes and yes, it should.  Quizzes try to auto save back to the Canvas system after each question.  But the "trigger" is when you view another question.  So sometimes that last question never gets a chance to Save. But when you click Submit it's actually sending answers to all of your questions again anyway, both those which had auto saved and that one last one which may have never saved.  You should be fine as long as the Submission happened.
