Importing course content.
Problem 1: The assignments show up in "Modules" but not "Assignments".
Course assignments are supposed to be automatically imported into "Modules" and "Assignments" during the importing process, but this in not happening.
Problem 2: Other times only some of the course content is imported,
any suggestions are appreciated.
Thank you.
Hi @denise_childs - Needless to say, that should not be happening. I just tried doing an import on a sample class myself and did not replicate your issue. Are you doing an import using the "All Content" selection? That worked for me just now; I also did a "Partial Content" and purposely selected only Modules (not Assignments) and--as it should--Canvas dutifully imported the Modules and the assignments within them. (Placing them into an "Imported Assignments" group on the Assignments page, as it usually will for partial imports.)
If you have imported things more than once into this course site, be aware of this warning that is in the blue area at the top of this page:
Importing a course more than once may have unintended consequences. If you import content into a new course, edit the content in the new course, and later import the previous content again, the imported content will override the existing content.
I'm not sure if that applies to you in this case or not, but I figured I'd just mention it.
IF (and this is a big if) you do not mind wiping out everything--and I mean everything--in the current course site, you could go for the nuclear option of resetting course content and then trying to do another full import.
If the above does not help, it may be time to file a case with Canvas Support. (Help>>Report a Problem). As I said, I could not replicate your issue just now, though that's not to say there could be something else wrong somewhere.

Dear Mr. Black,
Thank you. Will try some of the suggestions.
I concluded that it might be a browser issue as I was kicked of the internet earlier this morning.
I'll also contact my trainer; I think that I might also have a little misunderstanding of what gets imported into Assignments.
I did the nuclear option and deleted a module. But then was unable to re-import it.
Tried to start a new course and that's when some browser issues appeared.
Your prompt response to my questions has lessened my frustration, especially since my community college plans to start using I-DEA in about two weeks.
I greatly appreciate your assistance!
Sincerely,
Denise Childs
Glad I could help a bit, Denise. (And call me Ken!) I admit I didn't think of browser issues--especially since you got partial imports--but indeed that is always an underlying issue, as well. (More information here, if you needed it: https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-10720-which-browsers-does-canvas-support )
Hi Denise,
I have one other thought. What kind of assignments are being used in the original class, and was the original class on a different Canvas server? If the assignments were linked to an external tool which is not available on the new Canvas server, it may not be possible to create the assignments in the new Canvas course.
Mike
I have one other thought. If you are importing content from a file, if the file is large we've had problems doing that over wifi. It helps to be sure you are connected by ethernet.
