Has anyone had any success with installing the screen recorder for Studio on an iPad? If so, can you help me out?

I can download the installer but not sure which program to use to run it....

Howdy,

Hi @Chad Scott.  This question is not addressed in the page you linked in the reply.  I have the same image popup when I try to use screen capture on ipad and am wondering what the next steps would be.

In Canvas Teacher App: I get the request to download screen capture application, it downloads, but asks what to open in.  I try chrome, but is says can't handle link.

In Google Chrome, it tells me feature is not supported and use chrome or firefox.  I am in the latest version of chrome, so I am not sure what's going on there.

In firefox, I get the request to download screen capture application, it downloads but then nothing happens.  In settings, I turned off 'block pop-up windows' still nothing.

Just wondering if anyone has ever been able to screen record with an ipad using Canvas studio.  I can use the iPad's built in screen recorder, but you must record the whole thing at once, there is no pause option, so its not ideal for me.

I'm looking for a Canvas Studio screen recorder solution for students who use the Canvas Student app on iPad.  Yes, I realize they could also use the built-in screen recorder but a simpler workflow would be for them to do their recording within the app - just like our other students and teachers using MacBooks.  Any solutions?

I am in the Teacher Canvas app and when I hit RECORD and choose Screen Capture, it still requires me to download an application that I can't run. I realize that I coudl use the iPad's own screen capture to record my video and then upload that video, but... Am I not able to screen record through Studio on the Teacher App on an iPad?

I spoke with a member of our LMS team,  @Chris_Hofer ‌, and it is my understanding that you cannot record to an iPad using the Canvas App. I have been using the screen recorder on the iPad and then uploading the videos.

We are also experiencing a problem using the Studio Screen Recorder on an iPad.  This was the response from the ticket we put into Canvas: 

Unfortunately, we do not support this tool on iPad. It is available on Windows, Mac, and Chromebook. 

This seems ridiculous given all of the iPad users in education.  Using the built-in screen recorder does not allow for pausing during the recording so that isn't an option and it's so clunky!  We need Canvas to support Studio screen recording on iPads.
