I am interested in a workflow solution whereby a specific assignment type will forwarded to a custom user role.

Hello  @jrhuizer0  Welcome to the Canvas Community.  Thank you for posting your question.  To my knowledge, this is not currently possible in Canvas.  Could you provide some more detail or maybe a scenario where you'd like a specific assignment type to be seen only by a custom role?

You may need to create a new Feature Idea for this request (assuming that one does not already exist here in the Community).  Here are some documents for you to look through that will help you get started with the Feature Idea process:

Hi Chris,

Thank you for your quick response and I'll provide some more detail on the use case I am wondering about below. There's actually a few questions that I have but I will try to stay focused upon the one I posted (and thank you for the resources).

I believe my development plan slightly bends canvas in a way that is perhaps not common. However, I believe what I am envisioning is something that Instructure may find some value in. So before I get on to the details of the question. I think its important to describe the context in which I am working.

I am a Senior at Frostburg State University. Please refer to my email signature for additional details but the point here is that I am a student; and I am developing a student-facilitated, co-curricular class on Canvas.

Student organizations on campus currently use Campuslabs as a "collaborative" platform for posting documents, members, and events. It has extremely limited functionality and therefore is not used by a huge majority of student organization leadership.

All this to say, I'd like to see Canvas Organization. Although that will require just a little tweaking. Fortunately...I believe...there is a Drupal integration and I am familiar with it. If the integration is what I believe it to be, I'll be able to make those tweaks. I am meeting with our account admin tomorrow morning for the access key for drupal....if that's even how it works.

One more thing I believe to be quite important. This course was proposed to the faculty by my student organization. It was a project of the University System of Maryland's digital badging initiative. Currently, this initiative is being facilitated through portfolium. I believe with just a little more tweaking Canvas Organization offers a much better solution. I am quite sure the steering committee of our badging initiative would appreciate it.

So with that context in mind, I'd like to be able to direct a content submission to a specific role. I'll refer to this as workflow in future follow-ups. Use cases:

1. A (Specific Role) has the responsibility to review all content submitted from a specific module.(Example: A student is designated to receive student submissions from a form (survey). This specific role is a committee chair.

2. A (Specific Role) has the responsibility to review all submissions from a specific assignment. Imagine an interdisciplinary course with an assignment from four different disciplines. Each assignment would go to the relevant teacher. (Example: Three teachers moderate the course, each responsible for one of the three modules. It is in fact the only one they can see.

This is probably way more than what you may have been expecting, so I apologize. However, I hope it helped to explain what it is I am attempting to do. I'm looking forward to your reply.

My apologies for the delay in responding.  Thanks for the detailed description of what you are attempting to do in Canvas.  I think it would be best to submit this as a Feature Idea if you find there aren't any third-party tools (you mentioned a Drupal integration) that would have similar functionality.  You can use the links that I provided in my initial response.  Just make sure to first search for similar ideas here in the Community first before submitting your own.  That way, you're not duplicating an idea that someone has already posted which might be similar to yours.  I hope this will help, Jon.  Good luck!
