[ARCHIVED] Is there really no way to construct an interactive quiz?

Our university's moving from Moodle to Canvas. From what I can tell, Canvas doesn't allow for interactive quizzes — i.e., the student answers a question and receives an instructor-created response after hitting 'submit.'
Pedagogically, this seems like such a crucial activity — especially in an online environment — that I'm dumbfounded. Is it really possible that Canvas hasn't recognized this and included the function? Are there any workarounds?
