Hi Joan,

Can you clarify what you mean by "link announcements to the calendar"?   What exactly are you hoping to do?

You can add events to the course calendar using these instructions:https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-12797-415241296 

However, that doesn't create any kind of course announcement.

You can also create announcements and set them to be displayed on a particular date.
