My students are confused about the % score that canvas generates.  Is there any way to remove it?  I'd like it to do

something like, "So far 45 points out of 100 have been graded.  Of those 45 available points, you have earned 40 points."

Is there a way to force Canvas to do this?

Unless you have changed the default settings, like missing policy, this is how Canvas works.  Each student's score is independent of other students.  So if student A has had 40 out 45 graded points graded and student B has had 60 out of 65 points graded, their percent reflects that.
