As far as my question about designing modules - I am interested about ideas for arranging sub-topics in a module, such as Resources and Learning Activities. I use text headers for these and place materials below each topic. However, when students navigate through modules using the "next" or "previous" buttons - they do not see these text headers/sub-topics and they just proceed to the next page in the module without seeing those sub-topic text headers.

For example, after they view the last "Reading/Resource" page - when they click on "next" they run right into an Assignment or Activity without seeing that sub-topic header, which helps put items in to a context. Therefore, wondering if it works better to use Pages to title/reference those sub-topics?

I agree that the next doesn’t show the headers and exactly why I split up my unit modules into topics. Once done, students were much more comfortable. It’s also easier to slide these chunked topics around if I want to make changes.

Hi Layne:

Thanks for your response and recognizing some navigation challenges about using text headers to create sub-topics within a module. So, it appears you use Pages to serve as sub-topics - do you include links to readings or assignments within those Pages? Such as "The Nature of Physics" lists/links to certain readings/websites, and might also include a link to a Quiz or other assignment?

Sorry for the delay. I've been debating on the best way to explain the flow. The top pages are for students needing to see how the unit lesson is organized.  For example, here is a topic outline page. You can see, it's really just an outline for the student. It's not a substitute for the lecture but a way to help students "chunk" the material. 

The right column links to the major areas. The bottom green bar quickly links to the different units. 

The lecture material has the following items embedded:

-- Google Slides

-- Whiteboard PDF (from Promethean board)

-- Video (embed from screencast-o-matic)

The ISN page has images of a sample of how their Interactive Science Notebook should look: 

Assignments are separate items in the modules. My sample images don't show them because I settled on this structure about mid-course creation and haven't backfilled and fixed things up.
