The Instructure Community will enter a read-only state on November 22, 2025 as we prepare to migrate to our new Community platform in early December. Read our blog post for more info about this change.
Hello @jmcmurray , unless your institution blocks it, go to your people tab and click the blue "+ People" button. Then just enter her email, username, or SIS ID and it will add her back with her data. If you have the option (again, if your institution allows it), I would switch her to "Deactivated" so that she is not considered part of your class for future data and does not receive notifications from your class if she is really not there. Nothing will be lost by switching her to the deactivated status in terms of submissions and scores from when she was in the class, it just helps keep everything clean.

Hi Nick, Thanks for the prompt reply. I had tried that action a few times, but her username is not recognized. I double-checked her username, and it is correct. I am in "free for teacher account," so there is no institutional connection. When I look at her account information for the new course in which she is enrolled, it shows she is enrolled in the older course as well; however, she still does not show up in the old course roster and cannot be added.
This may sound stupid but I have to check, are you sure you have the radial for "username" selected if you are entering the username?
Yes. I selected username when entering their name. Thanks for checking. Is there any way to check if something unusual has happened with her account?
I am curious if she logs in and clicks on her "Courses" tab and then "All Courses" if the list has both classes listed. I am not sure all the differences between the paid and free accounts to know what could get "stuck" to seem to hold her enrollment but not really hold it for your roster.
Have you tried her email instead of username to get her back in the class? Just some thoughts.
Thanks,
Nick
Hi @jmcmurray , it's been a while since community members offered support. How did you get on?
If one of the answers was of assistance perhaps you could mark it correct.
Hello, The suggested actions didn't make a difference, but the problem ended up resolving itself. Neither the student or I could figure out what was done to make the adjustment.
