[ARCHIVED] Not able to upload pdf or doc.x file into assignment box

I have been unable to upload my paper into the Canvas assignment box. It initially existed as a doc.x, then, when that didn't work, I converted it to a PDF - still wouldn't upload.  In spite of the the fact that both these file types are acceptable, my error message said that the file type was unacceptable. HELP?!?!!!

I apologize that your question has been sitting out here for so long without a response. Without seeing what you did, it's hard to diagnose this from a distance. On occasion some of my students created their submissions in Word and saved them as .docx, but when that file type proved incompatible with an assignment that required a PDF upload, they simply renamed the file to change the extension rather than converting the document from a Word file to a PDF file.

I'm not saying that's what you did! As you can tell, since we can't look directly at the environment, we need to guess.
