Our students are having a hard time submitting assignments from Notability directly into Canvas on their iPads. Some students have the Canvas app to submit from their notability and some do not have the Canvas app option at all (not even in "more apps"). Some students that can submit are confused with the course selection to submit because past enrollments options are listed in their classes to select from their courses. Can past courses be filtered so students only see their present courses?
Solved! Go to Solution.
We had gotten word that this was happening and we have a fix for it in place already. The next release will only show courses with an "active" enrollment in the Submit Assignment flow which will exclude past enrollments.
Sorry for the trouble. Thank you very much for bringing it to our attention.

Today we had a ton of issues with turning in assignments to Canvas from Notability. I verified that students were running the latest iOS on their iPad, and had installed the recent Canvas update. It acts like the PDF is submitting from Notability to Canvas but it never shows up on the Canvas side. Have you had any reports of that or know the fix for it. My teachers and students are getting frustrated along with the people helping the students troubleshoot.

Some of our students recently noticed that some Notability submissions weren't showing up, but it turns out that the submission had gone to a different assignment entirely.
We checked that....that was not the case for us. It just never showed up. I ended up having one student email me the assignment and I submitted it for her from my computer through the web.
We are also still experiencing this same issue from Notability after iOS and 6.6.2 Canvas update. I've created a support case.
My kids are hitting this too when uploading from Notability.
Hoping we can see it fixed soon. VERY frustrating. Our workaround is to export the PDF from Notability to their iPAD FILES and then go to Canvas, click Submit assignment, and upload the PDF from their files on their ipad. THe direct submit link from Notability to Canvas fails 90% of the time.\
We now have a screenrecorded case of a student turning in work to a math assignment and it landing in another class with the same timestamp and have opened a case - just a heads up that this may be more of an issue than just the long list of assignments. Edited to add - we put in a support ticket on Friday that has been escalated, but no news yet.
Yikes! I hope you put in a support ticket for that.
Canvas Student 6.6.2 is now available in the iTunes store!
We are aware of the issues with submitting from 3rd party applications, such as Notability, in Canvas Student 6.6.2 and are working on a fix right now. We'll have the update out as soon as we can.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you so much! Now I have something to tell all my teachers.
We are also having the same issue with Pages.
As of today, we are still experiencing issues. When is the expected release time for the new Canvas update?
There also seems to be an issue when students go from Canvas to notability. They get a message saying that they need to edit in google docs. They have no problem getting the pdf into notability, but there is an image blocking part of the content that cant be moved saying to edit the doc in googe. They are running 6.6.2. Has anyone else run into this?
Canvas Student app version 6.6.3 is now available in the App Store which fixes issues with submitting from 3rd party applications.
Please give the update a try and let us know if you have any more issues.
Thanks.
We are having better luck, now, with submitting. However, now the issue is the list of assignments to search through. Is there a way to change the order they are showing up in? We have courses with a lot of assignments, and it's hard to scroll and find assignments. It would help out a great deal to have this list with the most current assignments up on top if possible! Is this an option for us? Could this be changed?
I have been training our teachers to use modules for this very reason. In modules you can organize the assignments but easier. Inside the modules you can add text headers, assignments, quizzes, discussion etc. and have them all in one place organized how you want it. This modules overview might help.
Thanks for the reply, Carrie. Modules are definitely our friends! In this case, I'm specifically talking about when students are submitting from an app such as Notability. A box now pops up for them to choose the course and assignment they'd like to submit. When they go to the assignments, it gives the list, I believe in alphabetical order. For one of our math classes, the names are all numbers, and there are a ton of assignments. So, it makes the list super long, and hard to find things. It would be nice if that box the assignments could display as most recent on top. For courses, we are all about modules as well! It has been a life saver! For this submission issue, however, Modules don't play in.
Our students are having the same issue. Notability is heavily used at our school too and sometimes students are submitting to the wrong assignments as they scroll through the long list of possibilities.
Ah, I miss understood. Yes that is an issue with us as well. The long list of assignments. It would be helpful if assignments would drop off the list if the student has turned in their work already although then that would cause a problem if the student needed to resubmit work.
@jhough , @lfrancis1 , @crhyland , and @BStutzman - I think this would be an amazing new feature idea. It would be the perfect place to continue this discussion and share idea on how the process could be improved.
I completely agree. I searched for one that might already be on there to build on but didn't see one. I don't mind starting the idea. I'll post a link to it when I'm finished.
Here is the link to the idea.

We are also experiencing this struggle. It doesn't matter how you might have things listed in the course or the gradebook, this messy list doesn't change. Its very difficult for younger learners.
We are also having issues with the long list of assignments, and I think that Instructure needs to change that process in the iPad app. But for now, I have found one workaround. If you only publish the module that you are currently in, and unpublish the other modules, your students will only see the assignments in this current unit (module). It cuts down on the list size significantly.
Unfortunately, as we approach December exams, I'll want to publish the entire course's information, so this is hopefully only needed in the short-term, until Instructure can find a better process?
We are still having issues as well! We have students that go through the process of turning things in from notability and the student app says that they have successfully submitted, however, the teacher never gets the assignment. So many issues this year!
Hey,
It's works properly in my turn i think because of i used Notability in Windows Desktop I suggest you too.
I completely agreed with you, I am facing the same issue while making an image of chandigarh university fee structure
