Does anyone know if the built in plagiarism checker does peer to peer submission checks or does it just compare submissions to things online or a database somewhere? Thanks!
Solved! Go to Solution.
Hi, @Kheywood , the plagiarism checker is a function of the third-party company with which your school has contracted. You'll need to ask the specific provider of the originality tool your school uses for details on the features they offer.

Thanks Stefanie, but it seems in the guide I linked above that there's something within Speedgrader that provides a similarity score. Is that still based on a third party checker?
Yes, that is correct. The lesson displays what a plagiarism check would look like, but the specifics will depend on the third party provider's feature set.
Putting it in a different way, @Kheywood : Instructure Canvas does not have a native plagiarism tool or originality checker. Originality checks are performed by the third party application.
