Hi All, question here that might not be a Canvas specific. Has anybody got any favoured approaches for annotating students submitted pdfs with stylus inking, and then resaving as a pdf that students can use? We're finding that doing it in Edge sometimes makes a pdf with the annotations absent. Thanks, Will (Liverpool, UK)
So you're not using Canvas to make the annotations that are not showing up?
I have a support ticket open right now, for one of our faculty who was using his iPad and Apple Pencil to annotate and grade student assignments (uploaded PDFs) in Canvas SpeedGrader. His last two stylus strokes are being left off, so 98% looks like 98/ (because the circles he had added went missing)... "oscillate" looks like "oscillal" (since the cross for the "t" and the "e" were discarded).
Hi @gcollins1 , sorry I thought I had replied already but must have not hit send. I have sent this suggestion about using Speedgrader directly to the tutor involved - I should really give it a try too. As you say, things might not be perfect with it and it might not have been designed for use with a stylus, but worth a look at in case it is worth considering for assignment processes in the future, so thanks very much. Best, Will
Canvas Support said, in short: "The main reason we will see some of the annotations be removed when the submissions are left and then come back to will be because the submission page was left before the annotation was completely saved. This can happen if the page is left too quickly, or if there may be trouble with the connection. To avoid this, they will want to make sure that the top of the submission page says "all annotations saved"."
