[ARCHIVED] Posting Digital Learning Day Office Hours

My school district has Digital Learning Days so that for any reason the school is closed, the students and staff are able to log in and do coursework, check emails, etc. and when hours and work are turned in later, the day counts and does not have to be made up at the end of the school year.  My question is below.

How would I post my office hours, that I will be available to answer questions, so that the my students and their parents would know when I would be available for questions?

There are likely many paths to Nirvana for what you would like to do, but this is likely how I would approach this.............

Set the Stage:

• If you use a Course syllabus (I know lots of K-12 don't), then I would prominently include this information in the Course Syllabus.
• I would also repeat this information in your introductory module.
• Send it home as a handout to parents/guardians

Activation:

• Set your course up so that your course announcements display on the Home page  How do I show recent announcements in the Course Home Page?
• Teach your students and their parents to check Announcements on the Home page, by regularly posting good stuff there. This is useful anyways.
• When a closure occurs, post your office hours as an announcement - and while at it, post how students should be spending their time during the closure.

This is just how I would do it, but other will likely have other ideas.

Since there really is no single right answer to this, I am going to change your question to a discussion.

I'm not sure if this is a Canvas question, or more of a logistics one, but the way I interpret this question is to point you to the Syllabus tool. How do I use the Syllabus as an instructor? 

As for being available to answer questions, you could start a discussion to answer questions.
