I teach a drawing class at a local college and since the Coronavirus scare I now have to put my class on-line. I have assignments posted on Canvas and have taken on-line classes in Canvas but now I need to know how to let students upload their weekly assignments and then comment on the work of their fellow students. Whats the best way to do this in Canvas?
Thanks,
Bob
Hi Bob @rgurgul1 Welcome to the Canvas Community.
It's so cool seeing arts teachers making the most of Canvas. It has potential to be a handy tool with or without Covid-19.
You will need to set up an assignment where the students will upload their work via a URL, media recording or file upload.
Then you can set the assignment to be peer reviewed.
Here are a few helpful guides to get you started
There are lots more but these will do for now.
Sing out if you need a hand.
Thanks, Bobby,
How do I know if this works after applying your suggestions?
Bob
Hi Bob.
Trust Canvas, it's what it is built for.
Bobby
Hi, @rgurgul1 (Bob), another approach would be to use a graded discussion that is set so that students cannot edit their posts and must post before viewing replies (and include a suitably stern warning in the prompt about the consequences for students who attempt to game that setting). You'll be able to grade and comment on individual submissions through Speedgrader and both you and your students can also comment directly in the discussion.
