The Instructure Community will enter a read-only state on November 22, 2025 as we prepare to migrate to our new Community platform in early December. Read our blog post for more info about this change.
I have been copying my rubrics in Canvas by using the import content feature in Settings. It worked great at first, but now I've run into some problems. I work at an IB school, so my criteria for any given assignment is always a variation of the same rubric. To save time, I input all criterion/strands into a template rubric, import a copy, and then delete the criterion/strands I'm not assessing on that assignment. After successfully grading two assignments with these imported and modified rubrics, they just now reverted to their original state when I tried to import a new copy of my template. It is very frustrating!
Does anyone have a solution to this problem?
Can we also acknowledge how impractical it is that there is no simple "duplicate" button to copy a rubric like a quiz? Canvas, please do something about this!
I can't offer any help on the duplicating rubric issue. But we are new to Canvas as very keen (approaching desperate) to connect with other IB schools, especially those offering the MYP. If you know of a school could you please let me know. rbauer@aisgz.org. We are starting to feel a little isolated.
