I created a Quzzes Next quiz and can see it in my module and in the "Quizzes" area of the course navigation, but when I tried to create a "course link" to it in an announcement (or a page), I could not find it under "Quizzes". I found it under "Assignments" but it had the assignment icon instead of the quiz icon (it does show the filled in airplane quiz icon in the quizzes area of course navigation and in the module it is deployed in).
What's up with this difficultly of finding it properly indicated in the "course link" selection frame?

@lshulman I am not 100% sure if this is the reason or if it is because Quizzes Next (New Quizzes) is an LTI and just of the standard build anymore. The reason it was separate was because Canvas currently has two versions of quizzes running and during this development overlap where both are running, classic quizzes is still the default and this it is the only one that shows in the "quizzes" area when adding links to them. When Quizzes Next first rolled out, you actually created them in the assignment area too. They moved it to being in the quizzes button but obviously have not switched how you link to them yet.
I asked our CSM prior to COVID about this and there was no timeline for changing this but it was on their radar. Not sure if that has changed as we get closer to turning off Classic Quizzes or not.

This has not been solved yet, at least not that I can see. When does the team expect to fix this? I am trying to avoid having to build the quiz again in the classic format so that I can link to it...
I am trying to link within the text of an assignment to a quiz built in the new format, but those quizzes don't show in the list of 'course links' (within the "quizzes" tab. Is there an error? where do I find the links to the quizzes built in the new format? Or how can I link from the text of an assignment (or other document) to one of the quizzes build in the new format?
also... are the question banks for the classic and new quizzes not n shared by both? That is, can one access the question banks for the old quizzes quizzes and new quizzes from either of them? will we lose the question banks for the old quizzes once you move on to the new quizzes?
I need to figure this out by tomorrow to avoid having to rebuild my quizzes under the old format.
Please, do not move to the new quizzes before fixing the bugs. Still many useful functions in old quiz format that are lacking in new format.
I have a workaround for your link issue. More work on your part, but easy
Create the assignment with the text for the link to the quiz.
Create the quiz. then on the quizzes page you can right click on the quiz name and obtain the url - what you really need is just the last number in the url which is the quiz id number in canvas.
Then in your assignment page, add any regular quiz for the link. then put the mouse on that link and click on modify. go to the end of the url and chang the number from what the old quiz was to what you created. I believe you could just use the entire url, but I had an issue when I tried that(could have been related to something else however).
As for the quiz banks. They are different and only work with their respective quiz type. I have not done it, but there is some mechanism by which quizzes or quizz banks can be migrated from classic to New. Search for that or maybe someone will reply with a link.
@VeronicaGrondon while the solution @Ron_Bowman will work, all the new quizzes should show in the "Assignments" area instead of the quizzes. Since they are an LTI, they are technically an assignment and thus show in there instead of the quizzes menu like you would think when using the course links tool.
Hope this helps with that piece. I too have not tried the banks migration recently. Last I tried it, I just got blank banks so I have not been back in. They are different though like bowmanr pointed out. In classic quizzes they are "question banks" and in New Quizzes they are "item banks".
