I've created quizzes in Studio lectures that I have recorded. They are published, and students are able to see and take the quizzes. In Assignments, I have these worth 5 points, and they are set to post to the gradebook. But none of them do. Students clearly have watched the video and taken the quizzes (I can see it in Quiz Results), but it still says all of the students have not submitted anything. What is going wrong?
Yes, I am also having this problem.
So am I!
As I mentioned, I am having exactly the same problem and apparently we are not alone. This is making me crazy trying to figure out what is probably not set right. I just posted 4 Studio video lectures with embedded quizzes and none of them will post quiz results to the grade book. I can see them in the assignment though. I really don't get it.
Charles, have you tried posting the *quiz* itself (I found this in my Assignments), rather than the video lecture? It seems that there are two different URLs, and the students have to take the *quiz* version rather than go through the video. I don't know if this makes any sense, the way I'm explaining it. Basically, I realized that I have to a) make the video, b) add the quiz to it, and c) post the quiz (which still shows the video) for the students, rather than the video-with-embedded-quiz. It's so strange, and I'm afraid I'm not doing a decent job explaining it.
Hi Lauren,
Can you explain (step-wise) how you post a quiz rather than posting the quiz embedded in the video? The quizzes I embedded in the Studio videos don't seem to show up on their own anywhere else.
Thanks,
Kathy
Hi Kathy,
Take a look at the reply I just posted to Lauren.
Chuck
Hi Lauren,
Thank you for the reply. I looked in my Assignments, but did not find any of the quizzes that were embedded in Studio videos.
So, after messing with different ways of assigning a video lecture with embedded questions I think I got it to work ... at least as a Test Student. Maybe this is how you are doing it?
1. In Assignments - click the "+Assignment" or the "+" in the assignment group to create a new assignment.
2. The Add Assignment box should open. Click on "More Options"
3. Enter the assignment name
4. Don't put anything in the rich text box
5. Points - I put 100
6. Assignment Group - as applicable
7. Display Grade - Points (I have not tried percentage, but by setting the points to 100 the grade book shows points out of 100)
8. Submission Type:
9. Add to the applicable course module
As a Test Student, using these steps the score has shown in the grade book. I will be posting an assignment for tomorrow. Hopefully this works with the actual class.
Chuck
That is how I set them up, and they are still not posting to my gradebook.
Kathy
Interesting ....like I said, it worked for me as a Test Student. I just posted an assignment for tomorrow to my class that I setup using those steps. Guess I will see if it works with a real class.
Chuck
Success! I posted an assignment yesterday to my class with embedded questions and used the steps I had posted. So far, the scores are posting to the the grade book.

We are having some problems with a video quiz recording grades for only some students, but not others. It's been frustrating that it only works for part of the students. Has anyone else seen this?
That is also happening to me. Last night, I had to manually update grades. Some quizzes had been recorded automatically and some weren't. I wonder if it matters what device they take it on?
I am having this problem currently. It's recorded grades for about half of the students who have reported viewing the video quizzes. I also have students reporting that they have viewed a video and not been presented with a quiz at the end, while others clearly have seen and responded to the quiz.
So, it obviously works for some but not all students, which makes it very difficult to use. Any more recent fixes to this issue?
I looked in my Studio and did notice that there seemed to be several versions/copies of the video quizzes and I wonder if there was an issue when this course was duplicated from a previous term (when the quizzes were created).
I am struggling with the same thing--I really wish there was a fix. I have it loaded as a quiz and external tool. Nothing. I have 105 students who have taken multiple studio quizzes this week--it is frustrating they are not automatically scoring.
