The Instructure Community will enter a read-only state on November 22, 2025 as we prepare to migrate to our new Community platform in early December. Read our blog post for more info about this change.
Hello there, @diehmdrew ...
This is a question that you're probably going to need to address with folks at your school. We here in the Canvas Community do not have access to your school's Canvas environment or your course(s) in question. If you can reach out to your school's local Canvas administrator or someone in your school's Online Learning/eLearning department, that will be your best course of action. They should be able to help get things straightened out for you. Good luck! Stay safe, be well.
@diehmdrew , Chris has given you great guidance, on the assumption that your Canvas account is associated with a school. If you're using a Free For Teachers account, you automatically have teacher privileges; when you start creating courses, you'll be in the teacher role and can change roles as necessary through the People tab in the course.
