[ARCHIVED] Reports of how frequently teachers update grades

Hi!

We're looking for a way to get a report of how frequently teachers update their grades in Canvas.  Or, more specifically, how many teachers do not update by a given date.

I'd love a way to pull this report but don;t know of any way to do it.  The last time, I went into each teacher;s user result and was able to see search the last time they were in their course's gradebook.  It certainly was time consuming and wasn't precise as well.  Just because one visits the gradebook does not mean grades were posted.

Anyway have any suggestions?

Everyday during planning. I also have as many activities post to our PowerSchool. Every 90 minutes during school day.

I don't quite follow.  Do you manually create the report yourself every day?  How do you generate it?

Are you looking for a report that, say, Admin could run to see which teachers have recently posted to the gradebook?  @emily_beckman ​ and I talked about this recently as well. With Canvas Data, you're able to pull a lot of information. However, you'll need a few days worth of files (each file is 24-36 hours worth of data) to locate patterns, etc.

That would be good. I’d be happy to collaborate. I’m just at the start of exploring Canvas data – as in the portal is turned on. I haven’t done much past that.

Definitely join the Canvas Data​ group in the Community! It will be a big help when you're getting started or if you have any questions!

In addition, there is a Canvas Partner called Alliance Partner - AspirEDU​ that has a tool called Instructor Insights. This tool integrates directly with Canvas and on the admin side allows you to click one button and see the last time Instructors entered grades, accessed their course in Canvas, and much much more. In addition, they have a easy to use button that allows you to download the data. If you're interested (it's pretty awesome) I'd recommend talking to  @Chris_Munzo ​.

Hi, Jim!  Yes, we've discussed Dropout Detective in the past but I don't think we talked about Instructor Insight.  We provide overview reporting of the metrics of the performance and engagement of teachers in their courses.  We'll display items like Days Since Last Course Access, Days Since Last Grades Were Posted, Overall Class Risk and a number of other metrics.  There is a video on our web site that you can get to via Alliance Partner - AspirEDU​ -- otherwise, I'm sure you have my contact information.  Thanks!
