[ARCHIVED] Reschedule a quiz with new end time

I have a student who missed an online quiz for a good reason.  I can reopen the quiz for him by doing 

Online Quiz 3

Moderate Quiz

Filter by student

Click edit pencil

Click Manual unlock 

Now the quiz is open to him but is there a way to set a new close date and time just for him?  I would like to be able to tell him that he has until 23:30 tonight to take the quiz without having to manually check and see that he has actually taken it by that time.

 @david046 ‌.  Good Afternoon, you can also accomplish this by going into the quiz details and adding a new assign box.  Currently the one there probably says "Everyone" and then you gave it a specific date/time.  At the bottom of that box is the ability to add another assign box.  In this one, just put the student(s) you want to give a different time to.  This will trump that student being included in the "everyone" and give them their own due date and time.

@Nick Wilson, I did try that at first and then found out that if I use the edit function for the Quiz itself i.e.

Online Quiz

Edit pencil

Click on: Assign to

Add student name and update open and close times 

Save

Then this has the unfortunate problem of deleting all other student scores because Canvas thinks a new Online Quiz has been created just for one student.  Canvas assistance here at University was able to resurrect the older 'greyed' out grades but several students were concerned and so was I!

If I have misinterpreted what you mean please let me know.

Are you using New Quizzes or the Classic version?

No clue. This is our first year, first semester with Canvas. A quick check

of the website does not tell me which version # we are using.

If you click the word "Quizzes" from the course menu to create a quiz then it is the classic version.  If you create your quiz from the "Assignments" menu then it is the new quizzes.  Either version ultimately gives you the same details page.  

I think though that I may have figured out what went wrong.  If I follow your steps correctly, you did not click the "Add" to create a new Assign To box.  (You should end up with two, one for "everyone" and one for the student needing additional time.

Then, everything should work as planned.  If not, that is a new one as I have done it several times without issue so I don't know what the system did.

Yes, I thought that is what I did originally, Add a student after the

Assign To: Everyone but it is possible that I deleted the Assign to

Everyone box and then added a Student. Right now the point is moot as the

student has done the make up quiz, but I know I will need to know how to do

this again some week.
