Is it possible to retrieve a draft email in canvas which has not been sent?

Canvas isn't email. They have an inbox that allows messaging, but it is not email and cannot send emails to or receive emails from for users not in Canvas. Since it is not a full-featured email client, it does not have the ability to save draft messages.
The only place I've seen a draft communication saved is with a submission comment in SpeedGrader. If you start to type something and then move to another student, it will save a draft. You cannot edit that draft, only send it or delete it. If you need to edit it, you will need to highlight the text and then copy/paste it.
The Rich Content Editor can autosave, but it isn't used for communications.
