[ARCHIVED] Single Sign On to Course, not Dashboard?

We have a homepage that runs our "homegrown SIS."  We prefer the option to have our SSO go directly to the course dashboard instead of the main dashboard.  Can this be done?  Our coding company has been trying to work around this, but it does not seem to work.  This would be great for those who start in "their own school" and then head to the course directly in Canvas.

 @ktesterman ​, I've shared your question with the Canvas Admins​ and Canvas Developers​ groups, as those are the people who are most likely to have experience with this kind of code writing. I've also changed the format from a discussion to a closed-end question, because it seems likely that an answer will eventually emerge that you will deem uniquely "correct"; if that proves not to be the case, we can always flip it back.

 @ktesterman , I'm an analyst and sys admin, but not in Middleware, so this answer is more general. We create our courses by automated scripting from the SIS (PeopleSoft), and then have to pass the unique URL for each course and enrollment back to our portal (SharePoint). The students can then pass directly (actually, a redirect) to their courses, having already authenticated to enter the portal.

We use the CAS protocol to achieve single-sign-on via our enterprise authentication system, and direct links to courses work for us.  For example, if I've already logged into our SIS and follow a link from there to a course site (e.g. school.instructure.com/course/1234) I do end up on the course homepage and not the user dashboard page.  Even if I'm not already logged in to our authentication system, when I follow a link like the one above I'm redirected back to our login page, and then ultimately back to the Canvas course homepage.
