I have heard that Canvas has optional modules available to support social network analysis (SNA). SNA can be used by instructors to x-ray patterns of participation in online discussion boards. As a TA/researcher, I painstakingly built SNA matrices from scratch. This laborious method is fine for research but impractical for everyday instructor use. I am graduating soon and will be working at a different university that has recently transitioned to Canvas. There, I hope to teach and promote social network analysis techniques. Can you tell me what Canvas features or modules - optional or otherwise - can be used to aid social network analysis? Thank you.

Hi, @jns0048 , I'm sorry about the delay in getting back to you. While Instructure hasn't built anything for that particular purpose, you may be able to find resources about outside analytics in this blog post: Leveraging RStudio Shiny for course level analytics.
Thank you! Please let us know if you have any further questions.
