Hello! I am working with an instructor who wants to be able to provide students with their overall score and points earned per question. In the Settings they have turned on the option, "Show points awarded (overall and per question)." Unfortunately after a student submits they are only presented with the overall points awarded and cannot view the points earned for each question even if they click on the linked exam attempt. Are we misinterpreting what this first setting is supposed to provide? We have seen we can provide students a score for each question if we check off the "Show items and questions" box but we don't want to do this as it would provide students a way to share exam content after they complete their session.
@marsenea I am seeing the same results as you. It does not appear that the "and per question" part is accurate unless you also are using the "Show items and questions" part.
It looks like that wording was added because if you want to do the opposite of what you are trying to do and show them the questions but not their points, then turning that checkbox off (or not having it checked) blocks the points overall and per question.
It does not appear that anything has been developed to then only check that box and it show something like:
Question 1 - 1/1
Question 2 - 0/1
Question 3 - 1/1
Total - 2/3 points.

hmmm.. the score per item is attached to the item and requires that the item display if you want the score to display. This seems reasonable to me. If the student can't see the question, showing them that it is correct or incorrect seems useless. Let me explain. If you have 1 or two questions only, then what you propose seems ok, but if you have 20 or 100 questions, revealing which ones were correct and incorrect without revealing the question itself leaves the student trying to remember the question in order to make adjustments to their thinking--the student can't be expected to remember the question without seeing it and then make adjustments accordingly. 2 cents.
AJD, have you found a solution?
My wish thoroughly soaked in hope hope hope is that I can click the student results to "view" and select item points and item feedback only and not the actual question. In our old Blackboard system, before switching to Canvas, we could do that. It efficiently lets a student know the feedback and score only, thereby giving them valuable feedback, like a mini-review guide to study for the final. Canvas old quizzes does not admit this mode of student results, and I am hoping "New" quizzes does admit it.
Thank you for confirming Nick!
