[ARCHIVED] Students cannot see Comments on graded assignments

Whenever i put comments on a student's assignments I can see the comments but they cannot

Hi  @jblow  Welcome to the Canvas Community. That red asterisk next to your comment as well as the Submit button that your screen capture is displaying tells you all you need to know:  you have not submitted the comment and, therefore, students cannot see it.  A couple of things are at play here--or might be.  Canvas will automatically save your comments in a draft state when you navigate your way to other students but does NOT submit them until you click that SUBMIT button.  Secondly, if you had a grade posting policy in place, I've had faculty at my own institution under the impression that if they submitted the comment that students would see it right away before they were ready to post grades.  That is NOT true unless you specifically posted the comments/grades. 

But the bottom line, with or without a grade posting policy in place is to click that SUBMIT button.

 I have this same problem, but I have submitted the comments I typed into the Assignment 

Comments text box, (in Speedgrader)  but they disappear as soon as I click the submit button.  This has happened several times in two assignments I have created, but it is not consistent with all student work.  This is a project in which some students are working in pairs and I have created 'groups' for those, but left the other students out of any groups so they submit their work on their own.  Would that have something to do with it? It looks like it is only in the grouped assignments that the comments appear after I submit them.
