Canvas and Mastery are experiencing issues due to an ongoing AWS incident. Follow the status at AWS Health Dashboard and Instructure Status Page
I've been trying to copy a course since 9:58 EST. It's been almost 5 hours. The only thing I was trying to test was what happened when I applied a template with settings to a course. So, there is essentially a change to 5 checkboxes, no real content.
I put in a ticket at 10:30 and it was escalated but it's still marked as "New"
Is anyone else able to use TEST? I can't use BETA because I made a bunch of JS changes and I need to test on production code, not BETA.
Thank you,
Joni
@millerjm we've been having lots of problems with beta and test lately, so this doesn't surprise me. Our main issue has been around masquerading as other people, but other things also haven't been loading correctly either. We've had an ongoing ticket with Canvas support on this and the last we heard they knew about the issues we are having and are working on getting them fixed. Hope you heard back on your ticket!
PS I switched this to a discussion because there doesn't seem to be a right or wrong answer as much as a conversation on what's going wrong!
My course copies finally finished but it was almost 3pm. By then I was not about to start that project again-and now I don't have time until Wednesday. It's frustrating because we need to be able to test things but if it isn't behaving properly its useless.
Agreed! We are building our orientation resources (we haven't switched to the new UI yet) and test and beta are the only places where we have access to our instance of Canvas, but with the new UI for screenshots and video. 😞
By the way, TEST is sending out notifications! I'm on the phone with support right now.
It was only sending notifications to the app my phone - no idea why! I had to delete and reinstall the app.
That's crazy!
I just tried copying a course in our Test.instance and queued for about 5 minutes (which is definitely not normal for our production site) but it did copy over correctly. Your test site is sending out notifications!?! Oh my!
It sent notifications to the app, because apparently I had logged into test on the app at some point?
Does anyone else actually want to login as a student to TEST and check out course functionality. I've switched on the new UI in our TEST instance as I want to see the impact on our existing JS and CSS but unfortunately can only do that as an Admin, not a Student, which is very frustrating!! I want to test in TEST!
Thanks
You can masquerade as a student...that's what we did.
Thanks Joni, I know that's possible but I don't want to give out my Admin login details to the rest of the team. I have setup a Test Student that I prefer to share but it only works in the main instance. Right now we are testing the new UI in our Test instance and would like to be able to test as a genuine Student & Teacher.
Appreciate you response.
Barbara
Yes, it would be better to be able to test as a real student - just trying to help you with a workaround. Could you make a very limited admin role that has access to masquerade on only the TEST instance?
Yes that would be nice to do in Beta as well. How can you truly test the product if you can go in as the level to make sure the functionality works.
