1st year of going virtual here. Looking at various pages in the Canvas Commons, it's difficult to know what to include in a course introduction module, especially for elementary students. Where's the balance of too much information vs. too little? Here's what I have so far:
- Introduction
- Teacher Info & Communication Policy
- Class Info
- Grading Scale
- Working Syllabus
- Getting Started (shows how Canvas works, maybe some videos)
- Instructions on discussion boards
- Setting up profile, et.
- Tips for successful online learning
- Commit to schedule
- Commit to online class community (discussion boards)
- Netiquette video
- Digital Citizenship
Anything I'm missing? I'm expecting to put a video and/or graphic representations for as much as possible to accommodate learners. Should I put a quiz up? Discussion board for students to introduce themselves?
Thanks in advance.
