Hello, 

We are building content for schools to use. When we are impersonating through a teacher account, we cannot see the Grading Notes we have entered for Essays. We originally intended the Grading Notes to hold the answers for essays to allow for easy grading. Ideas for how to allow teachers to see these grading notes while they are grading would be wonderful!

Giving feedback using Speedgrader is magic, your intention to use this for feedback 'grading notes' is a great idea.

Not quite what I am asking for. We (curriculum provider) are building quizzes. Within the quizzes, we have Essay questions. One of the features in the Essays is "grading notes" --- in this section, we added answers for essays for teachers (that will use our content).  Here's a screenshot: 

When I impersonate a teacher, I cannot find where they would be able to see the grading notes. I wouldn't be impersonating a student because they don't have access to grading notes/grading privileges.

I just tested this,  @sgtandmrslewis ‌, and when I pull up the submission in SpeedGrader I can see the grading notes I entered in the quiz for that question.

We are not seeing the grading notes in our new quizzes - is there a specific setting we need to have turned on to make this work?

What question type are you trying to use in conjunction with Grading Notes in a New Quiz?  In my own sandbox course, I went into an existing New Quiz I have in my course, and I looked at each question type.  The only question type I could identify that has the Grading Notes option is the "Essay" question type.  When I add an essay question to my new quiz, below the areas to give the essay question a title and a question/prompt, there is a section for "Options" with five check-boxes.  Below that is the "Grading Notes" heading, and if you click on that, a text box appears where you can type in whatever text you'd like.  This is described in:

To my knowledge, there is nothing extra that would need to be "turned on" in order to use the "Grading Notes" in an essay question of New Quizzes.
