The Instructure Community will enter a read-only state on November 22, 2025 as we prepare to migrate to our new Community platform in early December. Read our blog post for more info about this change.
Multiple teachers in my school reported to me over the past week and a half that there grades are not appearing properly in their Canvas course gradebooks. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I asked my teachers to try and do the following troubleshooting steps.
1) Update their Chrome browser
2) Clear cache
3) Try another browser such as Microsoft Edge or Mozilla Firefox
This is a complete separate issue from what happened due to the outage of AWS earlier this week.
I also reached out to Canvas Standard Support and the rep I spoke with was unfamiliar with any issues that the gradebook was experiencing.
Thanks.
Yes, this seems to be a fairly widespread issue, though we've yet to have any reports of it occurring in Firefox. We've been instructing our faculty to use Firefox when they encounter it.
It's been a topic of discussion in the IRC chat, but the Instructure engineers were saying they've been having difficulty reproducing it in an environment they could use to troubleshoot.
Having said that, we've started to get reports of identical symptoms when accessing LTIs. but we've been unable to confirm they're related. So, it's possible the problem is even more extensive than first thought.
Update 2021-12-10 @ 9:15 AM ET
Please be aware that, at this point, it has been confirmed that the Files area of a course can produce the same issue.
Thank you @cesbrandt .
Please forgive me for my ignorance. What is the IRC chat? I am wondering if there are additional updates on this.
@cesbrandt do you have any updates on this issue? I would really like to send an update to my faculty.
Thanks!
