Is there a plan for new quizzes to add the wildcard character * in the answer choices?

In what context are you looking for the use of wildcards in Canvas. 

Canvas doesn't have any plans to add wildcards to the user interface, but if you explained in what context you would like to add them, we could maybe discuss workarounds for the functionality.

I am a designer with instructors teaching database classes. The wildcard character is used to signify "anything goes." It is very handy for quiz questions. They are coming from the Moodle environment where the wildcard character is an option. It's just rather disheartening to move to a new LMS and lose functionality.

I will add the instructor are currently using the regular expression feature, but the process is quite cumbersome compared to what they are used to.

We would recommend that you suggest that idea! I definitely see that language being beneficial for Canvas!
