[ARCHIVED] announcements not visible/have gone through all troubleshooting

I still have the crossed out eye icon next to my announcements. My course is published, the announcements are not disabled in the navigation list, and I did not delay the announcement.

Please help!

I've been seeing this issue over the last couple of weeks with a few courses.  Try the following steps:

• Open your course and click on Settings
• Without making any changes, click the Update Settings button at the bottom of the page.

I like to think of this as "kicking" Canvas and it's worked in every case I've tried it with so far.

Hi merickson

If Announcements are enabled in course navigation, then the answer is as simple as - you do not yet have an announcement posted in Announcements area. Several other areas of Canvas also work that way. Soon as you post an announcement, the crossed-eyed icon will go away.

Hi Kelley,

No, it's not that simple. The issue that we experienced is that we had posted an announcement with no delay in the posting time, and the announcements were still not visible, even though they were enabled in the navigation. The solutions of going into Settings - Navigation and hitting the Update button did work, however.
