[ARCHIVED] approaches to the governance of Canvas data

Does your institution have a clearly defined understanding or procedure concerning the governance of Canvas data. We had been using Canvas data extensively to address various questions ranging from student, course to departmental level. Now Instructure provides us with the great Canvas data service (Amazon Redshift especially), we would like to make it available to researchers/faculty/staff, but stumbled by the issue concerning who owns Canvas data.
